Primary Chords Exercise - Key Of F# Major - D# Minor

To begin the exercise in the keys of F# Major - D# Minor:

  1. Practice positioning your fingers on the guitar based on the diagrams provided below. Practice by holding the chord and strumming.
  2. F# Major ( Triad: F# B C#7 )
  3. Once you are comfortable with the first chord, move on to the the other chords, until you have completed all of the chords (Major and Minor).
  4. D# Minor: D#m - G#m - A#7 (Relative Minor)
  5. Now play one chord and move to the next chord in sequence, strumming after each chord.
  6. F# Major ( Triad: F# B C#7 ) - D# Minor: D#m - G#m - A#7 (Relative Minor)
  7. Continue the sequence until you have memorized the position of each chord.
  8. Move to the Next Key and repeat the process.

Barre - To Create A Barre, Place Your Index Finger Across The Strings
       Shown
    Finger Position On The String
  X   Do Not Play This String
       The Numbers Along The Left Side Represents The Fret Location (i.e. 1 is the first fret, 2 is the 2nd fret etc.)
